How to Make As in College – 6 Tips to Perfect Grades

Seriously? Coming from an “average” student, the title of this article seems pretty far-fetched! Really? Yes, really. It’s possible – but let’s make it probable.

Tip#1 – Go To Class. Now there’s a difference here between simply “going to class” and “going to class prepared, alert, ready to learn, on time and regularly. ”

Tip #2 – Complete all Homework AND TURN IT IN! A no-brainer? I’ve actually known students who went to all of the time and effort to complete an assignment and forgot to turn it in!!

Tip #3 – Focus and Take Copious Notes. So you bring your laptop to class to take notes. Great! You’ve just got to remind yourself to stay focused and intently listen to the lecture. The ONLY function your laptop should be providing for that moment is for note taking and not for Facebook or YouTube.

Tip #4 – Get Organized. Got a planner? If not, then get one and use it. College is the time to be at the top of your game having all of your classes organized with all up-coming assignments, projects and test dates at your fingertips. Don’t let your grades suffer because you didn’t know when an assignment was due or a test date was looming.

Tip #5 – Meet Your Professors. Yes the significant word in this Tip is the word “meet.” Find out your professor’s office hours and physically go and introduce yourself so your professor knows you by name AND face. Believe me, this goes a long way if you get yourself in a bind and need some extra time to complete a project or take a test. Most professors love to see your genuine desire to succeed and want to help you out.

Tip #6 – Don’t Hesitate to Seek Out Tutoring. I know, you think you’ll wait a couple of weeks to see if whatever knowledge your professor is trying to impress upon your brain will start making sense. My advice? Stop! Swallow your pride and make a mature and smart decision to get help immediately. Remember this is college and not high school where getting an “A” is going to take a little bit more effort on your part.
